The years AGM took place, once again, at Hook Village Hall, near Royal Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire, although the day started off dull and rather chilly, we were soon blessed with   our usually sunny weather.

At the start of the afternoon before the meeting, members enjoyed a delicious buffet lunch provided by the Committee, followed by cold drinks and tea and coffee. Before the start    of the meeting, everyone had the opportunity to buy raffle tickets, and as usual, there was a bumper raffle with prizes generously donated by the members. Our Merchandise Officer, Sheila Mabey had a wonderful array of goods to purchase from the Club stall.

Our Vice-Chairman Alistair Balharrie opened the meeting and explained that he would be chairing the meeting as our Chairman; Anne Gregory was not able to attend as she was   not well.

Anne Madden gave an update on the Birman Heart Research Fund and the progress being made with the research. Anne said that approximately £3,500 had been raised and £3,000 had been sent to the Royal Veterinary College for phase two of the heart research. Anne said that researchers had found markers; the pedigrees they had received were    very useful and progress was being made isolating genes. Anne said that our Club Members had helped with samples for testing.

The AGM raffle had raised £103.00 which would be donated to the fund.

Marilyn Ward, Treasurer, explained to the meeting that the Club had once again made a healthy profit in the previous year and this was mainly due to Sheila’s hard work with the Merchandise Stall. Marilyn expressed her thanks to Sheila on behalf of the meeting and the Club.

Marilyn asked for the meetings’ agreement that the Club should once again send a donation of £100, to the Birman Welfare & Rescue, in recognition of the work they do taking care of our less fortunate Birman rescues. The meeting was in full agreement with her suggestion.

Jackie Pell, Show Manager, reminded Members that the closing date for the Show had been extended and Members still had time to enter. Arrangements were in hand and Jackie hoped that everyone would have an enjoyable day.

AGM Cup Secretary, Caroline Cockwell assisted by Anne and Pam Collins, had displayed the Club’s annually trophies, which looked beautiful and Club President, Teresa Cole, made the presentation to the winners.

Alistair Balharrie closed the meeting and thanked everyone for coming and making the afternoon enjoyable and a great success.

NEW SHOW DATE – 2017
The date for the 2017 show has been changed to Saturday the 4th March 2017 and will now be at a new Venue – Ellendune Community Centre, Barret Way, Wroughton, nr Swindon. SN4 9LW
We have seen a growing problem with the car parking arrangements at Cricklade Town Hall which has now become unacceptable.  The Committee took the decision to find a new Venue for the show.  Car parking should be much better at this new venue.

AGM 2017
As a result of the move in show date for 2017 we have also had to make a change to the date for the AGM.  Subject to availability of the hall the new dat will be 9th April 2017.  This will be confirmed to members in the summer newsletter.
